I hope everyone had a safe and fun Halloween. Speaking of scariness, how about that scrambled, making no sense whatsoever first paragraph of my last edition? WTF was that all about? I obviously was doing some cut & edit that ended in a hot mess and was blasted out to the database of 13,000 in a completely whacked-out format. Not my proudest hour, but life goes on and I know I, at least, had a good laugh at the final newsletter when it appeared in my own inbox. By now, it has been replaced with what it was supposed to say and has been posted on the houstonqueenofclubs.com website. I just plain fudged it up, royally. I solemnly swear to do a better job of proof-reading from now on.

CHUY’S NEWS: I want to extend a quick welcome to our new servers, Cole, Marcus, Sarah, Kelly and my two adorable favorites, Nathan and “D-licious.” I’d also like to give a shout out to new managers, Mike Slatten (formerly of Chili’s) and James Gicas (formerly of Fox Sports Grill.) These two are supreme experts in three things, and that’s restaurant management, fatherhood and football and I never tire of hearing them talk about all three! I have some events coming up and as always, my readers are invited and I will send out Facebook invites to my Houston friends for my events too. To add me on Facebook, find Kimberleigh Coyne. Here’s a little scoop of news, there are eight new Chuy’s locations being built in 2010 and by popular demand, Clear Lake and Katy are on that list, which may be good news to those of you who live in those areas. Chuy’s is even invading other states beyond Texas, Tennessee and Georgia.

The 4th Annual “Feast with the Beasts” is being presented by and at the Houston Zoo this year on Friday, November 6th from 7-11PM. This is a 21 and up event with wine and food from 50 of Houston’s hottest restaurants and entertainment by Big Voodoo Daddy on the Bud Light stage. To purchase tickets, cluck to houstonzoo.org.

November 19th is Flashback Thursday at Lucky’s Pub (801 Emmanuel Street) featuring the disco band Le Freak. Show starts at 9PM and Lucky’s Pub hosts this the third Thursday of every month (luckyspub.com.)

The Queen likes to put the “happy” in Happy Hour and I am hosting THREE happy hour events this month at Chuy’s (2706 Westheimer.) The first one is a Young Active Professionals (YAP) mixer on Monday, November 9th from 5-8PM. Young Active Professionals is a group with over 3,400 Houston members. The only requirement to join is that you are between the ages of 21-45 and membership is free, so join today at yapclub.com and you’ll get invitations to many events, activities, happy hours, outings and trips in their weekly email newsletter. I have been a member for about three years. Along with Houston’s Consummate Concierge, Freddie Floyd, I am co-hosting a hospitality biz networking event on Monday, November 16th, from 5-8PM. If you aren’t in the hospitality business, you are still welcome and I am going to give a ticket to each party attendee that brings me their business card. The ticket I give you will be redeemable for any item from our appetizer menu at half price, but the ticket will only be good on November 16th until we close that night at 11PM. We have a complimentary build your own nacho buffet and drink specials from 4-7PM Monday through Friday, as well. Also at Chuy’s on November 23rd is the last Queen of Clubs happy hour event of 2009. I will be asking all guests to bring a canned good or non-perishable food item to donate to the Houston Food Bank on the 23rd. All three of these happy hours will offer $3.50 house margaritas (including swirls, three ways and dots) and $2.50 domestic beers until 7PM and the free nacho car housed in an authentic ’59 Impala.

I will host a YAP happy hour at Saint Dane’s (502 Elgin) on Wednesday, November 18th. YAP party attendees on the 18th will enjoy half-price wraps, $2 draft beers and all cocktails will be $1 off regular price. Believe it or not, it will be my first visit to saint Dane’s as a patron and I couldn’t be more excited. Expect to receive an invitation to the event if you are my friend on facebook and please invite other friends and your co-workers to attend.

Rich’s (2401 San Jacinto) will play host to some of the world’s most famous DJ’s this month, Kaskade on the 13th, Charles Feelgood on the 20th and Dave Seaman on the 27th.

Thursdays at Rich’s are “Party Central” featuring the house and hip-hop sounds of DJ Riddler from NYC and Houston Icon, Johnny J. With College ID, enjoy no cover until 11PM and all ladies are free until 11pm, as well. Stereo Fridays feature DJ’s James Reed and Ron Duffie and end your weekend at Sound Factory Saturdays with DJ Red and DJ Ebonix. Both Friday and Saturday at Rich’s you can dance until the wee morning hours with Rich’s After Hours. See more at richsnightlife.com and myspace.com/richsclub.

The Texas Renaissance Festival is going on each Saturday and Sunday this month until November 29th. For details and driving directions go to texasrenfest.com.

I hope all of you have a magnificent Thanksgiving with your loved ones and be sure to hit your favorite night spots on November 25th, which is Thanksgiving Eve and one of the busiest nights of the year for bars, clubs and restaurants, so live it up and then count your blessings on Turkey Day.

so I take every opportunity."
