Cameras Ready? Prepare for a picture-perfect after-party! In the successful tradition Beyond Entertainment's Spoiled Boyz all world-famous for, they've created a party for those that always migrate to the camera lens. Late night Saturday, March 12 Spoiled Boyz will present PAPARAZZI at the Grasshopper, located at 506 Main Street. Be ready to Vogue and Runway as Miami Beach's own DJ Craig Demo (Tone Control Records) will be providing the beats. Dress to tempt the camera. Doors open 3:30AM - 8:30AM. $15 advance tickets available at M2M Fashion. Your fans await you! These once-a-month theme parties are all the rage in town and if you've yet to attend one of these parties, you're out of focus.

There are only 16 days left until St. Patrick's Day. I'm fortunate enough to BE Irish, however, this is the one day of the year when EVERYONE pretends to be. To all those wannabes I say "come be Irish with me at Slainte Irish Pub!" Slainte will be open at 9:00AM, yes, 9:00 in the morning, on March 17th. Find the pub at 509 Main Street. The Houston Press has an in-depth guide to all the St. Patrick's Day events that Houston has to offer. Keep an eye out for it in the March 10th and 17th issues. Only 11 days until the St. Patrick's Day parade, and that will take place on the Saturday BEFORE St. Patrick's Day, on March 12th. The parade route starts at Minute Maid Park and will end near Texas and Main. The theme of this year's parade is Saluting Irish Heroes, Past and Present. Visit www.houstonstpatricksparade.org. For opportunities to have a float, car or walking group in the parade, contact Sean Kearns at sekearns@aol.com.

Get your green clothes ready, you know it's a tradition to pinch anyone who is not wearing green. Oh, and if you spill green beer on yourself, it won't stain. That's a big plus, too! I recommend you visit these downtown places on March 17th: M Bar, The Flying Saucer, St. Pete's Dancing Marlin and my most favorite places, Slainte Irish Pub, the Ruby Room and 6° Lounge.

Giddy up, it's Rodeo-time. For great seats to all the shows, contact Tammy at 713-269-7600. Tickets are going quickly, so contact her very soon. Don't miss the St. Patrick's Day parade, downtown at 2:00PM on Saturday, March 12th. Brian O'Neill's at 5555 Morningside will host a sexy kilt contest on March 15th. I'll be judging. Man skirts are as sexy as all-get-out! Griff's at 3416 Roseland, is hosting the 40th Annual St. Patrick's Day Festival and St. Patrick's Queen Contest on Thursday March 10th. I'll be a judge at the Queen's contest. I'll be at Brian O'Neill's on Saturday, March 5th to judge the "Miss Brian O'Neill's" contest. The winning beauty will take home $500 and will go on to compete in the Queen Contest at Griff's. I like to think of myself as a non-judgmental kind of gal, but it looks like I'm judging a few things this month. It will be nice to BE a judge instead of be in front of one, if you know what I mean. I hope to see all of you at the Ruby Room on March 24th for an Artist Reception hosted by Artists at Large from 6:00 9:00, followed by Engage 3.0 which is a fashion show presented by Engines of Elk. Check out the website at www.enginesofelk.com.

I found a magazine I really like called The Heights Pages. It's a quarterly publication that will be turning 7 years old this July. The distribution area is in and adjacent-to the Heights. Consisting mostly of Heights establishments, it contains interesting articles concerning law, art markets, Heights 1st Saturday events, chiropractic care, landscaping, antiques stores, restaurants, gift stores, remodeling, car repair, eye care, art galleries, investment and much, much more. You can find the publication in the Heights area in local establishments or visit www.heightspages.com for the entire issue. There are links to all the websites mentioned so you can find additional information about businesses. The Spring issue will be out later this month. If you have any questions, the publisher, Dee Melancon will be happy to help you and she's just a phone call away at 713-868-4136.

Last month, Crystal Lee of 6: Lounge celebrated her birthday with 11 of her friends and admirers at Benjy's Restaurant and Lounge at 2424 Dunstan. It was a memorable party, to say the very least, and Miss Lee was absolutely ravishing and radiant in her new birthday dress from Tootsies, compliments of her sweetie. A good time was had by all. The food was great at Benjy's. I enjoyed the Spicy Asian Marinated Chicken Stir-Fry with lo-mein noodles, cashews, and ginger-hoisin sauce. Thumbs up. Copa Room celebrated their first birthday with an exclusive party that included a nice appetizer spread and a hosted bar for the invited guests.

D'Wine Restaurant and Paparazzi recently hosted a really unique event called "Cuba." It was a very cool concept for a night, and included DJ Che, salsa dancers and cigar rollers. Manager, Kiki, really has a good thing going over at 4304 Westheimer, actually TWO good things. D'Wine is a terrific restaurant and the nightclub, Paparazzi, is rapidly growing in popularity. I like the idea of dining and then enjoying dancing and drinks, all under one roof. If you haven't checked it out yet, you definitely need to, because it is awesome.

BOOZE NEWS: A little Irish history lesson and news from the Vodka front: Brian Boru was Ireland's first High King. He is credited with driving the Vikings out of Ireland and uniting the entire country. He is also responsible for starting the Clan O'Brien, through his four wives and 30 concubines. Anyone with the last name O'Brien is a direct descendant of Brian Boru. So, if you are an O'Brien (and even if you're not) Boru is the vodka for you. There are many yummy libations from Ireland (whiskey was invented there) and one of the hottest to hit the market recently is Boru Vodka. Fresh from the Emerald Isle, Boru is made with pure Irish spring water, is quadruple distilled for smoothness and filtered through 10 feet of Atlantic Irish Oak charcoal purity. Boru is from Ireland, but it is definitely not green. Boru's frosted bottle and classy black and silver label take it out of the Irish stereotype. Boru Vodka has an opinion on everything. The 'Clarity from Ireland' campaign focuses on the clarity of the product and clarity of thought. The ads and coasters have "Boruisms." For example, Boru on Enjoying Life: "It is better to spend money like there's no tomorrow than to spend tonight like there's no money." Ain't it the truth? This vodka has TRUE personality.

Need a little "hair of the dog that bit you" after St. Patty's Day? Come to the Emerging Leaders Wine Tasting Event on Friday, March 18th at Dean's Credit Clothing at 316 Main Street. The event is from 6:00 - 9:00PM. The Strip House will be the featured food sponsor, which will make this a wine tasting unlike any other. There will be great entertainment, beautiful art, scrumptious food and delicious wine. This is the largest wine tasting downtown every year and the third largest in the city. It is $25 for DHA or EL members and $35 for non-members. To purchase your tickets, contact the HDA Office at 713-658-8938.

I'll be hosting the event along with the creator of Fito's Salsa. A portion of the proceeds of all the salsa goes to the American Liver Foundation. To see the story about the inspiration, the reason for sharing the proceeds and to order salsa, visit www.fitosalsa.com. Join us on March 25th and you can meet the creator and taste his product.

Here's something of interest to all you "dot-commers" out there, SEVENtwentyfour Inc. is an error-notification and web promotion company based in Toronto, Canada, that is 12 years incorporated. They maintain a large database, or map, of the web which consists of over 60 million sites, containing more than 3 billion links. There is more information at www.SEVENtwentyfour.com. With their latest service AdultChecking, you can even be notified if suspicious sites (like ones with hate or porn content or known spammers) have linked-up to you. Such preventative measures will save webmasters countless hours of tedious manual work and can salvage an organization's search engine profile and market-standing overnight.

The First Annual Empty Bowl Project is an international effort to fight hunger, and is being implemented in Houston. The unique lunch event and fundraiser on March 11th and 12th will benefit the Houston Food Bank, and is a collaboration with Houston area ceramists, other craft artists and the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft. For a minimum $20 donation, lunchers will receive a simple lunch of soup freshly prepared by the Houston Food Bank Community Kitchen, along with bread and water, and get to select a bowl from hundreds of original and hand-crafted bowls donated by Houston area ceramists and craft artists. The empty bowls will serve as a reminder of all the empty bowls in our community and around the world. One of a kind works of art created by some of Houston's best-known artists will be awarded at both events. The first event is on Friday, March 11th from 11AM to 1PM, downtown, at Heritage Hall in the JP Morgan Chase Building at 600 Travis. A live pottery demonstration will also be at the lunch event. The second event is on Saturday, March 12th from 11AM to 4PM. Lunch will be from 11-2 and hands-on pottery demonstrations and paint-your-own pottery stations will last until 4PM at Houston Center for Contemporary Craft at 4848 Main Street.

Club and bar owners, I now have a library of resumes from people I can recommend for positions in your venues. I currently have resumes for review, if you are hiring. I have two promoters, three bartenders, one manager, two doormen, and two event coordinators' resumes on file. Contact me if you are looking for any strong people to fill those positions. I only accept resumes from people I have worked with, know personally or have "seen in action" working at other bars. That way, I can give an honest referral. There is no fee to view these resumes. I just like to help people get connected.

NEWS IN THE BIZ: The Standard is now called Aura. Look for Paesanos to be replaced by the Shadow Bar. Jason Green will come back to make a guest appearance as a bartender at Slainte on St. Patty's Day. Jason is the winner of the 2000 Best Bartender award from www.citysearch.com that hangs in the entrance to Slainte. Main Street just got a lot more handsome because Rico Falzone and Cory Johnson are back at Empire Bar. The duo had left to go work at T-Town, but they decided downtown is where they belong and they returned. Ami Dave, Opus's Event Coordinator, is now also working at Mantra, as well. Call her to book your events, 713-225-3500. Someone bought Outback Pub. I know who. I'll spill the beans when the opening date draws nearer.

Club Ice is now open and is doing quite well. It's located upstairs on the second level of Mantra and is a hot new club destination. This venue comes complete with 12,000 square feet of bar, lounge, club space, balcony, and VIP rooms. There is something for even those with the most discriminating of taste at Club Ice. Sushi & Tapas are served until 3:00AM, if you want to "get your eat on."

I always write about place my readers give great feedback about. I got a sparkling report about the Horseshoe Bay Marriot. I was told the hotel is beautiful, and the pool absolutely amazing and it tops some of the big-time Vegas pools with color changing lights at night and lots of secluded spots in the waterfall-style hot tub. Visit the link of the property at www.emarketing360.com/Marriott/TX/MHSB/index.html. This should be a serious hot spot this summer with the lakes, fantastic golf, horseback riding, great local restaurants, cool pubs/bars, and over 16 vineyards nearby. If you have any questions, reach Jeremy at Jeremy.B.Carney@marriott.com.
