| Something
tremendous is happening downtown this month! The city's largest
and most beloved online singles site, www.HoustonConnect.com,
is hosting the first annual Downtown Extravaganza on Saturday,
April 30th. The party starts with a Zydeco Pool Party, complete
with live music, at the Marriott Residence Inn (904 Dallas) from
1:00-4:00PM. Afterwards, guests can get "prettied-up" in
their hotel suites for an unforgettable night on the town. Hotel

Yahoo and Hotmail have a new kid on the block to contend with.
Gmail is an experimental web mail from our friends at Google.
It is built on the idea that you should never have to delete
mail and you should always be able to find the message you want
to refer back to.
The user
can search to find the exact message they are seeking, no matter
when it was sent or received. Gmail
gives you 1,000
megabytes of free storage so you'll never need to delete another
message to make room to receive more mail. Each message is grouped
with all its replies and they are displayed as a conversation,
so it makes for a good reference for all those "he said,
she said" emails. Best of all, there are no pop-up ads.
I'm one of the lucky beta-testers for it, so I guess you could
call me a 'master-beta.' I think it's the mack-daddy of email
systems. Learn more at www.gmail.com.
Suede Lounge on Saturdays is the place to be. Rain or shine,
the place is packed. They rotate some of Houston's best DJs and
Go Go dancers every Saturday. Suede Saturdays are hosted by Joe
Applewhite and Ryan Echiverri. When any promotion or event is
sponsored by www.vinylPimp.com, that's a guarantee it will be
a huge success. Next time you're near Main and Prairie downtown,
stop in. Hours are 5:00PM-2:00AM, Dress code is enforced and
the club is 21 and up only.
Angela Carrasco
of www.houstonpartyratings.com send me a fun link called "Walk the drunk home." This
is hours of entertainment, especially during a hum-drum work
day. The object
of the game is to keep the little guy walking without falling
over, by moving your mouse left and right. You can't see your
cursor which makes it more difficult. The record is 82 meters.
Test your skill. My best score is only 17 meters, but I'll continue
to practice. www.wagenschenke.ch.
Chris Lawless, General Manger at 6° Lounge sent me this one.
It made me laugh out loud and brought tears to my eyes. Click
here for a good laugh www.glumbert.com/media/dancewhiteboy.html.
I love funny sites, send me more.
NEWS
IN THE BIZ: There's an 'Italian Stallion' of a bartender
who is available to bartend for private home parties or catered
events. He's as authentic as they come, right down to his Italian
accent. You can contact me for his resume, see him in action
for yourself on a Friday or Saturday at 6° (he's Davide, the
Italian dude) or email him at tyxi356@yahoo.com. I got an email
from my friend, Maria Fuentes who I hold in high esteem, and
she was bragging on Avanti Limousine, so it must be a pretty
spectacular service they offer. Check them out at www.avantilimos.com.
I'm an Action Limo Groupie, myself and have always used that
company, but somebody let me know how Avanti is, please. Seabrook
Beach Club just finished putting in a $100,000 Cancun-style,
heated, swim-up pool bar. Bikini Season is here and SBC will
host Hawaiian Tropics Bikini contests every Saturday in April.
Seabrook Beach Club is located at 3345 NASA Rd. One. Friday April
22nd is a nice day for a White Wedding at Numbers when Houston
welcomes Billy Idol to the stage. Numbers is at 300 Westheimer.
How old is Billy Idol these days, like 60? Still, it will be
a good show, I'm sure. Look for a big announcement from me, about
me, in one of next month's newsletter (no, I am NOT pregnant
and I am NOT getting married. Ever.)

I recently tagged along with a bachelorette party to 6° Lounge
and M Bar (402 Main) and it was unforgettable. Event Coordinator,
Khomie was a gracious host and the Go-Go dancers were kind enough
to share the stage with Neeli, the bride-to-be. I love M Bar
and it's one of the nicest clubs downtown. The music was great,
it was DJ Surain, one of my favorite DJs in town. M Bar wasn't
overcrowded and the people were beautiful and friendly. If you
want to go somewhere distinguished, go here. Your first impression
should make you love it for life. |
