Cisco, who has been in the Nightclub Industry for what seems like forever, and is currently a bartender at M Bar, is battling Cancer. The staff of M Bar, along with all of his friends will be hosting a fundraiser to help pay for his growing medical fees and cost of living expenses for the next three months. The event will take place at M Bar (402 Main) on Sunday April 24th. All of the proceeds of the night, which includes a Silent Auction, will be donated to Cisco and his family, to aid with finances while he has hellacious chemo treatments and cannot work for the next three months. The entire staff will either work for free that night or donate 100% of their tips towards his Cancer Treatment. Please come out and show your support. If you would like to donate money or a Silent Auction item, please contact Khomie at 713-222-1022. Attend the event and please keep Cisco and his family in your prayers as he fights Cancer.

It's time for another After Hours party from Beyond Entertainment's Spoiled Boyz. Spring has sprung and the flowers are in bloom, so prepare to enjoy the lighter side of purple with a brilliant party called Lavender. Late night Saturday, April 30 Spoiled Boyz will present Lavender at Escobar, located at 2905 Travis NYC's own DJ Joe D'Espinosa will be providing the beats. Shades of purple attire suggested. Doors open 3:30AM - 8:30AM. $15 advance tickets available at M2M Fashion. Expect to be treated like royalty at the purple velvet ropes. These After Hours parties are a huge success and I look forward to them every month.

The Red Lion Pub presents "Cheers looking at you" for the second annual St. George's Day Celebration on April 23rd. Come celebrate England's heritage. The Red Lion is located at 2316 Shepherd. The Red Lion will be open 11:30AM - 2:00AM and will feature special on food and drinks along with Morris Dancers, Folk Singers, festivities all day and fun for all. The Queen loves the Red Lion Pub and I go as often as can. I wish it was downtown, like all my other favorite spots.

I mentioned some great bath salts in the gift-guide issue around Valentine's Day Check out www.triplemoonreflections.com for her original bath salts (with new scents,) plus candles, diffusers, fountains, wind chimes, and other really cool products. I love this new stuff she's added! I haven't given props, in a while, to the two fabulous men without whom I couldn't do this newsletter. Thank you and much appreciation goes out to Khail Mills of www.hypermail.cc who designs the newsletter every two weeks and to John Valenzano of www.hardlightmedia.com who hosts my web site. Feel free to visit these gentlemen's web sites and if you end up doing business with them, be sure you let them know you heard about them in the Queen of Clubs newsletter. Remember, a sponsor box on the newsletter is only $29 per issue and each issue reaches over 12,000 email addresses. Your box can be a direct link to your web site or a means of collecting new clients and building your database. If interested, contact khail@hypermail.cc. Don't email me, I just write this thing, he handles the business end.

NEWS IN THE BIZ: Have you seen the April/May issue of hsm2? It is incredible, see www.hsm2.com. Be sure to fill out your ballot for the Houston Scene awards coming up. I was sad to see there was no "best newsletter" category (kidding.) Also look for the new and improved Envy Houston to be out on the streets the first Thursday in May. It's double the size and content, triple the number of issues each month being printed and it NOT to be missed. Be sure to attend their Launch Party at Opus on May 14th, there will be more details in the next issue of this newsletter about the event. Centro will be opening in mid-June. It'll take over the old Saba Blue Water Cafe location on Main Street. Denver Huffmeister is working downtown again. He left Sam's Boat out on the north side to come back to Slainte and is also working at Club Mantra.

I got this feedback from Richard Miller when I requested response about Avanti Limos. "You mentioned a limo service...Avanti...I have used them for business and personal for many years and they are used by some big name energy related companies for their top exec's and directors, as well as take regular folks on an overnight to Lake Charles or Galveston. Walter is the owner...Eric is the manager (maybe a principal also) over there...very first class and squared away.....Anita and David also handle reservations....many of the drivers are long time employees.... I highly recommend them....as does Bernadette who recently signed them up with Lyondell." Wow, nice comments from a current customer, so we can give Avanti a 'thumbs up.'

Maggiano's Little Italy at 2019 Post Oak Blvd. Will present a Messina Hof Wine Dinner on Wednesday, April 27th. Each course, prepared by Executive Chef Johnny Pochi, will be paired exclusively with these wines. Colorful Winemakers Paul and Merrill Bonarrigo will be on hand to describe their wines as they are served. The evening will begin at 7:00PM and is $80.00 per person, inclusive. Reservations are required, call 713-961-2700.

BOOZE NEWS: I was with John Valenzano, of www.hardlightmedia.com at the Red Lion Pub and we sampled for the first time Hobgoblin Strong Dark Ale. See www.wychwood.co.uk. I am usually just a domestic beer sort of gal, myself, but I was pleasantly surprised to find Hobgoblin is a full-bodied, well-balanced brew. It is strong in a chocolate-toffee flavored malt and a teeny, tiny bit of bitterness with a fruity character that lasts through to the end. This sounds like such a "girl thing" to say, but the ale is a really pretty shade of red too. I guess that doesn't matter to most people, but I noticed it. There's a new service in town. Check out www.last-night-events.com. Last Night Events is a provider of Bachelor, Bachelorette, and Birthday events for Houston, Dallas and surrounding areas. They offer all-inclusive "Club Hopping" packages, complete with limousine, champagne, food, drinks, and VIP entry into the hottest downtown nightclubs. With prices starting at just $69 per guest, Last Night Events provides a safe, affordable, and unforgettable experience for you and your friends. Please check their web site for a complete list of packages, clubs, and restaurants available in their packages. By the way, I also plan bachelorette parties downtown that include no cover privileges at your choice of five venues, but I don't charge a penny to book these. I just LOVE bachelorette parties, so it's FREE! Email me for the lowdown. I got this feedback from the host of one of my recent parties, "one of the bachelorette's friends told me she was going to get a divorce so she could get married again so I could plan her bachelorette party... I couldn't have done it without you! Thanks!"

Here's a cool event coming up from our friends at Artists at Large. It's called Art by the Glass and it's an art market for art and wine lovers on Saturday and Sunday, April 30th and May 1st, from 10AM - 6PM at Circle S Vineyards in Sugar Land. Artists At Large brings the popular art market concept to Sugar Land. A successful monthly event celebrating its one-year anniversary last month, the Yale St. Arts Market has hosted over 400 different Houston-area artists. Owners Mitch and Carolyn Cohen have joined forces with Catalyst Moon principals Art and Catherine Noyes to expand the art market concept. Circle S Vineyards is located in the Sugar Point Center at 9920 Highway 90A, at the intersection of Dairy Ashford Rd. and U.S. Highway 90 #B-268. For updates keep an eye on this site: http://www.mitchandcarolyn.com/glass.htm.

Come see Main Street's Dynamic Duo of Kristen and Jeff at the bar. ONE dollar wells and domestic drafts are just what the doctor ordered. Call the Event Nurse at Slainte at 713-222-1033 to book your party on any Friday. The last Friday of each month, Charlie Wemyss performs live at Slainte. He's great. He's so great Slainte provides a complimentary delicious happy hour buffet on the nights Charlie is here from 5-7PM. This month's big bash will be on Friday, April 29th. Walk down Texas, from Minute Maid take a right on Main and enjoy cheap beer.

I really recommend seeing "The Underpants" being performed through April 24th at the Alley Theatre. Showtimes are at 7:30PM on Tuesdays through Thursdays, 8PM on Fridays, 2 and 8PM on Saturdays and 2:30 and 7:30PM Sundays. The Alley Theatre is at 615 Texas. Tickets prices range from $19 - $54. I saw the play with a group of friends and co-workers from 6° Lounge and it was a great evening as 6° hosted a party for the cast and crew of the show afterwards. "The Underpants" is comedian Steve Martin's adaptation of Carl Sternheim's classic German comedy "Die Hose." It's a play about sex, politics, feminism, and sexism, and the show is an entertaining romp, featuring the Alley Theatre Resident Company of Actors.

A brand new film called THE YEAR OF THE YAO opened in Houston on April 15th Yao Ming stands 7 feet 6 inches tall and is just 22 years old. To a nation of billions, he is a heroic son and symbol of its increasing presence on the world stage. To the National Basketball Association, he is a poster-child for the globalization of the sport and potentially its first iconic superstar from outside North America and Europe. To his teammates on the Houston Rockets, he is the key to a successful championship. THE YEAR OF THE YAO is an exciting, inspiring chronicle of his tumultuous first year in the NBA.

The Constitution only guarantees the American people the right to pursue happiness. You have to catch it yourself. ~Benjamin Franklin
