Big news this month, as www.citysearch.com begins the voting for Houston's BEST OF CITYSEARCH 2005 awards. Please vote for 6° Lounge, the Ruby Room and Slainte Irish Pub in the categories you feel the venues I work for, and love so dearly, deserve recognition. While voting, take a minute to add your two cents to the reviews on www.citysearch.com. We at 6° Lounge are thrilled (and honored) about the reviews and praise we've been receiving lately. Thank you all for your loyalty and patronage. All of the QOC newsletter readers should have received a recent newsletter from Gary at 6°. Did you like it? Please take a minute to gaze in awe at the brand new www.sixdl.com website. I just love it! Special thanks to our new webmaster, Dustie Hollon of www.hjrdesigns.com. Dustie is a GOD when it comes to websites. Speaking of GODS, Khail Mills, my business partner, has moved back to Houston. I'm elated! See more of Khail's work at www.hypermail.cc.

Check out all of our MANY new newsletter sponsors! Wow, we are really growing. Please visit their websites, sign up for their email lists and most of all, spend money with these businesses. Without my precious sponsors, there would be no Queen of Clubs. Thank you new sponsors, we are glad to have you as a part of the newsletter. Because of all of our new sponsors, we will now have 3 issues each month instead of two. Lord knows I write as much as I talk so I'll never run out of things to tell you about. I like hearing from you all too, so please give me your feedback or suggestions about where I should visit, or where I should not. Inquiring minds want to know!

I'm hosting a "just because it's Wednesday" happy hour at 6° Lounge on May 11th, It's Wednesday, and that's all the reason I need to throw a party. Wednesdays are an awesome reason to get together and 6° is THE place to hang. There's no Astros game that night, so I don't want to hear any whining about parking. I want all of you to bring at least two friends. I'm starting this party early, at 7:00PM, so if you have to work the next day, you can still get home at a decent hour, without blaming me for being a bad influence on you. Wednesdays are Service Industry Night, so there are great drink specials and two of my favorite bartenders in the world will be on hand to service us. Who's in? DJ Soul Tower 606 is in the mix and it is $4 u-call-its and $2 domestic beers. Come one, come all to 911 Franklin. Come see me this Tuesday for a kickoff reception and book signing with the author of OFFSHORE to sign copies. Critics say his novel will do for Houston what the TV series "Dallas" did for that city. Join us for drink specials and appetizers on Tuesday, May 3rd beginning at 6°00PM. For more information about other appearances with author Don Corace, visit www.perceptivemarketing.com or his official web site www.doncorace.com.

Johnny Weisman, the Bald Sexy Beast from Joia Lounge sent me an email about their new "Sundae" promotion on (duh!) Sundays. They have a chef cooking omelets with fresh fruit, bagels and cream cheese, etc. The food is excellent and FREE, there isn't a cover and best of all they serve ice cream sundaes with liquor on top. For more information contact Johnny at jw@joiahouston.com. Get more "scoop" (get it, ice cream? Scoop?) at this link: www.thespinnetwork.com/upload/sundae.jpg.

This will be one of the biggest and baddest events of the year! Fischerspooner, Dean Coleman, and Deep Dish along with many other performers and artists will leave you begging for more this Friday at HUSH. Purchase tickets at www.tickets.com and get more 411 on the event at www.hushonline.com. Don't let your friends say "you should have been there." BE there!

Just can't get enough of the 80's? Then, get lost with THE LOST BOYS, Houston's new 80's dance band that has invaded the city, bringing a "totally awesome" show to a club near you. Formed by E! True Hollywood Story producer Mike Hubberd, The Lost Boys play classic 80s tunes and put on a wild show.

Their website is also the only place in the world where you can get free relationship advice from rockstars (a bargain at any price.) Check it out at www.thelostboysband.com and be the first on your block to host The Lost Boys for a classic 80s dance party! I'm not afraid to admit the music from the 80's is still my favorite era.

NEWS IN THE BIZ: My great friend, Catering Director, Ann Lasher is now working for HESS (Houston Engineering and Scientific Society) HESS is a private city club created by engineers. It is one of Houston's most elegant and luxurious settings for a special event, and you do not have to be a member to host an event there. Their intimate private rooms accommodate 10-350 people or up to 600 for the entire facility. More than 120 organizations choose HESS for their monthly meetings. Appropriate events also include wedding receptions, rehearsal dinners, bridal luncheons, anniversaries, birthdays and holiday parties. El Centro Restaurant at 416 Main Street is hiring and is scheduled to open around June 18th. Send resumes to employment@centrohouston.com and include a cover letter detailing why you would like to become part of the team. Been to Wasabi Sushi Bar yet? Email WasabiHappyHour@djsteve.com and tell DJ Steve why your company deserves to win and your next Happy Hour party could be on the house. I even sent an essay about my team. I hope I win a party.

My longtime buddy, Mr. Sean 'Sugar Pants' Carnahan is a busy guy this month. He has hosted Tastylick at the Davenport over five years now, and continues doing so. Sean and Champa Moore will be on the tables all night long. Mention the Queen of Clubs and receive first drink and complimentary cover on a Wednesday. The Davenport is at 2115 Richmond Avenue in the Shepherd Plaza Shopping Center. See Sean again on Thursdays for FIVE at the Lounge on 4704 Montrose. Also on the Thursday roster of DJs at the Lounge is Alex C. and Champa Moore (Champa and Sean are EVERYWHERE!) No cover at the Lounge on Thursdays for Queen of Clubs readers. That means YOU. Saturdays at the Gatsby, Sean, Champa, Alex C., Brandon Silva and Brian Durand host "RIDE." The Gatsby is in Rice Village at 2540 University Boulevard. When you visit Sean on these nights, tell him the Queen thinks he is the "real deal!" He's a Carnahanimal!

Houston Single Source is hosting a "Catch of the Day Party". Everyone is welcome so bring your favorite "catch" (that friend that you know is a great catch) and meet at the fabulous Bering and James Gallery in the Rice Village at 2482 Bolsover, their phone number is 713-529-0351. They will have hors oeuvres, open bar (wine & beer) and art. There will be a "follow up" party where you can re-connect with whoever catches your eye at this event. The cover is $10 and includes hors oeuvres, open bar and loads of new people to meet. It's on May 5th from 6 to 9PM at 2482 Bolsover. To ensure your spot RSVP early to Kelly@houstonsinglesource.com.

Check out www.unsignedrock.com. It's been in the works for the past year and a half, and it aired on Sunday, April 17th, on KNWS 51. The creators are pitching the show to major networks, and the more people that watch on TV 51, the more ammo they will have when it's pitched to networks. Plus, it's a great show, that all music lovers will enjoy Actually, even if you don't like music (and that makes you abnormal!) you'll like the personalities of the hosts, judges and of the bands. Show these guys your support and WATCH the show.

The Ruby Room will host Connect for a Cure on Thursday, May 5th at 7:00PM. This is a fantastic Singles Event and an opportunity to connect with like-minded singles while benefiting The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. A $5.00 cash or check donation at the door will give you a chance to meet the mate of your dreams and sip on $1.75 well drinks and domestic draft beers. There will be food, door prizes and Silent Auction items from some of Houston's Hot Spots! The Ruby Room is right above Slainte Irish Pub, which was voted 'Best Singles Bar' by www.CitySearch.com 2004, so check out the award on display as you walk up the stairs.

More on the Singles SceneKick off the Cinco de Mayo holiday a day before, on May 4th with Atom Smasher and the lovely diva, Maria Todd from104 KRBE as they host 'Single de Mayo' at Jillian's in the Marq*E Center from 6PM until 9PM.
