I'm hosting a "just because it's Wednesday" happy hour at 6° Lounge on May 11th. It's a Wednesday, and that's all the reason I need to throw a party. Wednesdays are an awesome reason to get together and 6° is THE place to hang. There's no Astros game that night, so I don't want to hear any whining about parking. I want all of you to bring at least two friends. I'm starting this party early, at 7:00PM, so if you have to work the next day, you can still get home at a decent hour, without blaming me for being a bad influence on you. Wednesdays are Service Industry Night, so there are great drink specials and two of my favorite bartenders in the world will be on hand to service us. Who's in? DJ Soul Tower 606 is in the mix and it is $4 u-call-its and $2 domestic beers. Come one, come all to 911 Franklin.

Reminder, one last chance to catch this great event: Amuse your Palette with the Wednesday Art and Wine series at the Sam [Bar]. The Sam is pairing contemporary art and wines. Enjoy conversations with the artist and wine connoisseurs Patrick Davila and Michael Scherzberg. Join them May 18th from 6:30 - 8:30PM. For more information, call 832-200-8800 or log on to www.samhoustonhotel.com. The Sam Houston Hotel is located at 1117 Prairie Street. Eyewitness News Reporter, Miya Shay, attended this and told me this is a great event. The Sam has hosted three so far, this being the last in the series, so don't miss this one.

I heard from my friend, Gina Rotolo that her good friend Tommy Bryant, formerly of the Engine Room, has opened his own place. This could be your new favorite place to catch any sporting event, have some good food and great drinks. Ladies, you will love it too, because it's not your typical sports bar. The Mezzanine Lounge has great signature martinis and even have a few TVs programmed for us gals. That's right, Vh1, E!, and more. Stop by and check the place out. It's located at 2200 Southwest Freeway at Greenbriar, near Freebirds. The Queen loves Freebirds by the way, try one of their burritos and you'll see why.

Sexy, cool, and chic are some the words that I'm hearing about Club Heat. DJ Steve told me that it's easy to lose yourself on the color-changing dance floors and be mesmerized by the iridescent beaded curtains. The DJ spins a mixture of trance, hip-hop and 80's every Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. There is a spacious Japanese-style patio perfect for conversation. Their Hibachi Grill is open until the wee hours. It's a lounge for the senses and is quickly gaining popularity. Club Heat (Wasabi Japanese Restaurant) is conveniently located at 908 Congress between Travis and Main. Their Happy Hours are 5PM 9PM on Wednesdays and Thursdays and nightclub hours are 10PM 2AM Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays for details, please contact Steven at 713-366-1171 or djsteve@djsteve.com. Club Heat is also a newsletter sponsor, which makes them even cooler!

The Great Strides fundraising walk for Cystic Fibrosis is days away, and the Halliburton's Hot Rods team desperately needs financial support. All money raised from this national fundraising event funds the research that leads to development of new treatments and hopefully one day a cure. Each person's contribution is significant so whatever amount you are comfortable giving helps them reach their goal, and is appreciated. You can donate online or you can mail them a check. Email jrhalli@sbcglobal.net to see how you can help.
