| Why
is it every time I turn on 104 on the radio that damn Chipmunks
singing the "Mr. Lonely" song is on? I do mean EVERY
time. I'm boycotting KRBE for awhile (except for when Maria
Todd or Yo J are on the air) I try not to say negative things
in this newsletter, but I really needed to get that off my
chest. I loathe that song. Who else does out there? Okay, now
back to our regularly scheduled program.

I
recently discovered a cool show called "g3live." Creators
and co-hosts Gayland and Julianna noticed Houston was lacking
an internet web site like MTV, focusing on the local music scene.
Local bands can inquire more by emailing g3live@sbcglobal.net.
The show features a 30 minute monologue, like Regis and Kelly.
They discuss international music news, local musical news and
the show's guests. You can see the show at www.g3live.com. You
must have DSL, not dial up. Some of their interviews included
Sugar Hill Recording Studio, which Gayland will be assisting
in video taping the birth of a book that was written about the
history of Sugar Hill Recording Studio, Dope House Records, Matt
Leady, Joey D, Sylvia, Flash, Tailspin, Ramsey's, just to name
a few. The show was filmed at the Hideaway until recently, they
began doing the show every Sundays at The Flamingo Gardens off
of the Beltway and Hammerly, 4PM until 8 PM. The taping is suitable
for families to attend. When you look at our website you will
see local bands playing along with interviews on one side of
the website (left) on the other side (right) you will see the
music videos that Gayland directed, produced, and edited. So
if there are any musicians that would like a music video put
together give them a call and they can help you put a promotional
CD/DVD together.

If there are any Clear Creek High School Class of '95 alumni
out there, let me tell you your 10 year reunion is on Friday
July 29th at 6° Lounge (911 Franklin) and if you are a 1985
alum from either Hastings or Elsik High School, your 20-year
reunion is at the Ruby Room (above Slainte Irish Pub, 509 Main)
on the same night, July 29th. For details about other festivities

Has anyone checked out www.ClubRatingz.com? The new website
allows users to rate pubs, bars, and nightclubs on several factors,
including music, drinks, and overall vibe. There's no charge
to read or post reviews on the site. The site is also useful
for club owners and managers, who can find out what customers
really think about their clubs.
BOOZE
NEWS: Tito's Handmade Vodka is extremely popular. It was
even served at George Bush's Inauguration. Some people say
Tito's can be compared with any of the world's best vodkas.
Tito's has earned the Double Gold Medal with a unanimous vote
And beat out about 70 other selections of vodka in the process.
Tito's vodka is made in Austin, Texas by a 41 year-old Geologist
named Tito Beveridge. You really need to taste it, it's fantastic
and reasonably priced. It's served at 6° Lounge and Slainte
and you can learn more at www.titos-vodka.com.
Let's
talk about Little Woodrow's, www.littlewoodrows.com. Did you
know that there are four locations in Houston and one
in
Austin. 2306 Brazos (midtown), 5611 Morningside (Rice Village),
4235 Bellaire Blvd. (Bellaire) and 2301 W. Alabama (Montrose/River
Oaks). All four Houston spots feature some dandy drink deals,
especially for the ladies. On "Wine Thursdays" $2.50
gets you any wine in the house for the "ladies only." Their "Big
Ass Beer" is on Tuesdays -- 23oz. drafts starting at $1.75.
Geez, Louise those are some cheap prices. You know how the
Queen loves her www.citysearch.com, so I took the liberty to
see how the four Houston spots rank, and the 2301 W. Alabama
spot ranks the best out of the four, with a whooping 9.3 score. |
