| Well,
now that I don't work in the heart of Main Street anymore,
I need to give some love to my neighbors here in "NoDo" (North
Downtown.) Ultra Lounge is at 108 Main and I always have a
blast there. Andy "Champa" Moore (it will seem like
I'm stalking him because I mention him SEVERAL times in this
edition, but what the heck, the man is the mack-daddy DJ) is
their after-hours DJ on Saturdays, so check out 'Rock Star'
Saturdays at Ultra after 2AM. I'm usually lurking by the bar,
because Champa is in the DJ booth behind the bar and I'm such
a groupie (kidding!) www.ultrahouston.com. Say hello to pretty-boy
owners, Bryan Davidson and Corey DeBerardino while you are
there. In the next issue, I'll brag about another "No
Do" venue called Copa Cabana. Don't like the parking situation downtown? 6° Lounge has a solution!
My favorite boss, 6° owner, Gary Murphy, has a deal for the entire
month of July, just show us your parking stub and we'll REFUND
you $5 when you open a tab at our bar. Spend over a $100 with
us and we'll take care of whatever you paid to park. What a deal,
huh? I love my job here! If only I could get him to take care
of all the parking tickets I get when my meters expire during
the day while I'm at workthat would be divine.
Speaking
of 6°, here's another edition of THIS WEEK AT 6°: Join
us on Sunday, July 3rd, doors open at 9PM. We are now open on
Sundays for BLEND. The premiere party includes a catered buffet
from Bocados Restaurant, surprises from Erotic Cabaret and performances
by Macy. DJ Rocky B will be at the wheel (www.djrockyb.com) along
with DJ Alex T. We will feature Julian's new BLEND-tini and drink
specials will include $2 wells and domestic bottles until midnight.
Who's in?!
Okay,
so I KNOW I need to get to Bond at 2700 Milam. Everyone keeps
telling me that. I should
try to get out of downtown, once
in a while, and see what everyone is raving about. My long-time
friend, Leo Falchetti works there. He's eye-candy, ladies! Bond
has 'Open House' on Sundays with my hero, DJ Champa Moore from
9PM-2AM, Drink specials include well/call drinks at $4, beer
is $3 and Well Martinis are just $5. DJ Champa Moore will show
you around the house and Bond will be a VERY hot spot on Sunday.
It was confusing, at first, when I saw the ads in Envy and 002
magazines with their web site listed as www.bonhouston.com, then
I tried www.bondhouston.com thinking it was an error and they
left out the "d". They were just teasing us because
it now is www.bond2700.com and that one WORKS!
Take the time to nominate 6° Lounge for the Ultimate of Houston
awards. Also, be sure to plug in any other names / places you
like. I recommend Julian Ritchey as best bartender and if you
haven't seen him in action, come by 6° to see why he is numero
uno! There are plenty of friends and places we all know who deserve
nominations, in categories like local favorite band, artist,
bar/club, photographer, journalist, salon, clothing boutique,
etc. Show some love to 6° when you visit www.chron.com/content/chronicle/special/05/ultimate/.
The
www.citysearch.com BEST OF HOUSTON awards voting starts in
July. I guess you know I want you to vote for 6° in every
category that applies. Hsm2.com will host the awards show to
top all awards show in the Fall. It is the 2005 Houston Scene
awards. This is like the academy awards of nightlife, and you
won't want to miss it. Ballots available at www.hsm2.com. Let's
see how well you all know me and finish my sentence "will
you please vote for my favorite lounge, which is ____________?" I
think you know what I'm talking about, 6° damn it! You can
also vote for your favorites of nightlife, beginning in July,
at www.citysearch.com.
Lisa
Gochman of the www.gochgazette.com has seen Crome Lounge, which
is soon to open at 2815 S. Shepherd,
under the leadership
of General Manager, Carlos Palomo. She says it's full of lots
of chrome/silver with a beautiful bar and a cracked glass waterfall.
There are four VIP areas and a motorcycle showroom too. Nothing
like buying a chopper while sipping on some bubbly! Sounds like
something new and fresh and Houston is ready for that, indeed.
Crome is scheduled to open in early or mid July. Yes, I know
that isn't the ordinary spelling of "chrome," but there
is nothing ordinary ABOUT this place, and that's how they chose
to spell it!
NEWS
IN THE BIZ: I love Sean Carnahan, Soul Tower 606 and Champa
Moore, among many other
DJs in town, and I just wanted to blurt
that out. Vote for the Charles Snider show for 'best public
access show' in the Ultimate of Houston ballots in the Houston
Chronicle. Paul Oakenfold and Armin Van Buren are coming to
Houston on July 21st. I really like that "Don't Ya" song
by the Pussy Cat Dolls and 104 plays it all the time (thanks,
KRBE!) Sex-kitten, Kelly Richard, world-famous little bartending
vixen from Ultra and 6° Lounge is featured on www.smokinghotwaitress.com.
She is a bartender, not a waitress, but she IS smoking hot!
Come see her during happy hour Wednesday-Friday at 6° Lounge.
She's here from 5-9PM. Happy birthday to the sexiest man alive,
Bill Cotton, on June 30th. I hope see him in his birthday suit!
6° Lounge is getting a new Thursday DJ and it's one of my favorites,
so email me your guess on who it is & the first five correct
guesses will win a bottle of champagne from 6° next time you're
here! Call Khomie at M Bar to get on the guest list and save
on cover at M Bar this Friday. Her number is 832-512-7977.
Special hugs to Marissa at the Whiskey Bar in the Icon Hotel
for being so dang precious! This is getting LONG, but I REAAAAALLY
want you to go to www.spoiledboyz.net & see the independence
weekend line up of events. Incredible parties, so do it NOW! |
