This issue is lovingly dedicated to the memory of Mark Corbett who was tragically killed on October 2nd in an accident while riding his bike. Mark opened his salon, Hot Tops, about twenty years ago on Montrose and he was a familiar face and friend in the nightclub scene. Apparently God must be opening a hair salon in Heaven and he needed his best man on it. Mark will be missed greatly, but his smile and memory will live on in our hearts. We miss you so much, Mark!

The reason this week's newsletter is a little tardy, and is going out on Wednesday instead of Tuesday, is because I wanted to wait until after I went to see the opening night of Chicago so I could tell you how incredible the show is—and INDEED it was truly that—INCREDIBLE! I'd have to rank it in the top three musicals I've ever seen. Chicago, Stomp and Cats are my three favorites. Speaking of Cats, the show will be in Houston, at the Hobby Center, December 6th-18th. I enjoyed Chicago, tremendously, and if you'd like to attend, click on the Chicago sponsor box to the left for details. The show will be in Houston through October 23rd. Michelle DeJean is phenomenal as Roxie Hart and she is a native Houstonian, which is really cool! Tom Wopat portrays Billy Flynn. If any of you out there are as old as me, and remember the original "Dukes of Hazard" TV series, Tom was one of the Duke boys. There is a dancer in the show with blonde hair who has a fantastic body, you can't miss her, so if anyone wants to know what I want for Christmas, it's to have a body and talent like hers. Can Santa bring me that? My favorite actress was Brenda Braxton who starred as Velma Kelly. Turn to page 30 of the Playbill to see the list of cocktails in the Chicago Challenge. Come by 6° Lounge and have Julian whip up his entry called "All That Jazz," which is a jazz-berry swirl martini. After that, vote for his drink to win the challenge, please.

THIS WEEK AT 6°: On Thursday, we are hosting a fundraiser for Cherish Our Children International at 6PM and the "While You Were Sleeping" CD Release party from our very own DJ, Brandon Silva, and an Erotic Cabaret Fashion Show will follow later on the same night, Thursday the 13th. We'll celebrate the Downtown FREE PARKING program with a FREE PARKING party on Saturday, doors open at 8PM for this party. Don't know how to park FREE downtown? Space City Ski Club will host their monthly mixer at Red Lion Pub, 2316 South Shepherd on Thursday, October 13th. The Queen loves their food and their restrooms are my favorite in town.

START PLANNING FOR HALLOWEEN: The next two issues will list what's going on and where it's happening. Also, look for the TRAILS TO TERROR guide in the Houston Press of all the Halloween Haunts in the Bayou City. It will be in the next three Press issues. On October 29th, Maxim Promotions is hosting the Monster's Ball at the Gatsby at 2540 West University. Hue, which is open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday will host "Hue" Hefner's Halloween Lingerie Party on the 29th. Hue is located in midtown at 202 Tuam, 713-522-9393. Joia has an Industry Halloween Bash called CIRCUS TRIP on Monday, October 31st. Dare Ware is hosting the Crystal Ball at Opus (412 Main Street) on October 29th. Opus is the 2005 Citysearch winner for best Dance Club and a multiple tie winner of See and be Seen. The world-famous RENT will be at the Meridian (1503 Chartres) on the 29th with JD Arnold, Michael DeGrace and the lovable Little Martin, see www.upsidedownhouse.com. The Second Annual Houston Press Halloween Parade will take place on Saturday, October 29th, in the Downtown Entertainment District from 6 to 10PM. This year's event, featuring the theme "Haunted Hollywood," will include a parade, a costume contest featuring prize packages worth more than $10,000 including Continental Airline tickets, celebrity judges, live entertainment from The Band Not Formerly Known As KISS, the ultimate Kiss tribute band and MUCH more. For info, go to www.deda.org. More in next issue, including the Club Monkey's Pimp at Prostitute Ball, the Ambassador's Club Halloween Gala and many, many others. Here's MY pick for Halloween—SWANK AND SPANK at 6° Lounge (911 Franklin.) Suggested attire is Fetish wear (that's the spank) formalwear (that's the swank) or Halloween costumes (that's a given!) Entertainment will include two performances by Concrete Rose Cabaret and of course, DJ 606 will be in the mix! The monthly SPOILED BOYZ after-hours party starts in the wee hours after the festivities on the 29th, at Hue. The Spoiled Boyz parties are supreme, see www.spoiledboyz.net. Promoters and bar owners out there, send me details on your Halloween events for the next issue. Send to kim@sixdl.com.

Club Monkey's Fall Sports Mixer is this Friday at Pub Fiction at 2303 Smith. The entry is $10 and that fee includes the official beer of Club Monkey, as well as Corazon Tequila and Jager cocktails and a collector's item 2005 Club Monkey Glass. The party is from 6-10PM. Learn the turn-ons and turn-offs. The cost for this event is $10 for gentlemen and it is free for EFO members. There will be a cash bar and you pay for your own meal if you have dinner with the group. Call 281-870-0827 for email andrea@eightfriendsout.com.

The votes are in, the polls are closed and as I promised, there will be one MUTHA of a victory party for those of you who tolerated my incessant demands to vote for 6° in the BEST OF CITYSEARCH nightlife awards. Thanks for obeying me and voting for us. We took top honors in 30+ Singles Bar, First Date, After-work Bar, Happy Hour (we won that in the Houston Press too,) Conversation Bar, Singles Scene and Bartenders (we love Julian, Nell, Marissa, Trish and Melody!) 6° was part of a 3-way tie with the Davenport and Marfreless for best Martini and a FIVE-way tie for best place to see and be seen (other winners were Opus, Sky Bar, Brian O'Neills and the Lounge at Benjy's.) Save the date of November 10th for the Mohawks and Miniskirts party to celebrate our new status. Hurricane Rita pushed back the Mohawks and Miniskirts bash, so I decided to use the theme to celebrate our winning!

HURRICANE RELIEF: RallyAmericaJobs.org helps workers displaced by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita connect with America's employers. These individuals are urged to log on to the site and enter their job qualifications and skills. Many employers across the nation have already pledged to utilize and search the database as part of their recruiting efforts, including The Hershey Company, Campbell's, Office Depot, United Technologies, Waste Management and several more. In Houston, the Bernard Hodes Group has partnered with The WorkSource on the website effort. Job seekers without access to a computer can drop by any of the 37 WorkSource offices and enter their job qualifications into the Rally America Jobs database. For more information on The WorkSource offices visit www.theworksource.org. If you know of anyone in need of employment, have them explore www.rallyamericajobs.org.

NEWS IN THE BIZ: I love Escobar and had a chat with owner, Jeff, recently and as soon as he gives me the thumbs up to reveal the juicy tidbit he told me, I'll sing it from the hilltops. Mario from Twelve Spot is now at a+ in the Alden Hotel (formerly the Sam Bar in formerly the Sam Houston Hotel.) DJ Nesto spins at Club Ultra at 108 Main on Friday and Saturday nights and he specializes in hip-hop and house. November will be his one-year anniversary as a DJ. Check out Funk'n (that's an "n", not a "c") Fridays at Joia Lounge (2511 Bissonnet) with DJ Bizz. I've postponed the QOC anniversary party to be a 50th edition party and it will still be a WIG party, so start shopping for wigs to wear. I'll keep you posted. Why am I getting so many emails saying it's quite a task to get past the door staff at Hue? Is it really true or are ALL the people who send me emails complaining about Hue just catching Geno (door warden) in a bad mood? Let me know because I haven't been there yet and if I'm going to experience conflicts at the door, tell me so I can go elsewhere. GO ASTROS!
