one last week to visit Haunted Houses, most of them close after
October 31st, so here are a few you

on Galveston Island, 53rd and Seawall at the San Luis Resort.
Call 409-744-6000 or click www.rainforestcafe.com. Come aboard
the River of Doom ride, which is the scariest haunted house
on water. This interactive ride aboard a six-person raft offers
a chilling Halloween journey, with frightening surprises. Guests

chance to catch Fright Night at AstroWorld, which is located
off the 610 South Loop between Kirby Drive and Fannin, across
from Reliant Park. The park is closing this year and if you
are like me, we all have memories of younger years spent at
Astroworld. Call 713-799-1234 or click www.sixflags.com/parks/astroworld/index.asp if you want to know about what you'll find at Astroworld. Fright

are three shows incorporated into one experience at ScreamWorld:
The Haunted Hotel, The Edge of Darkness, and their 3D Adventure

Commerce boasts a challenge that their place is so scary that
if you make it through the mansion without turning back, they
will refund your money, www.challengethemansion.com. Is the
Mansion a new one? I don't remember hearing about it last year.

Houston has a new kid on the block, downtown, by the name of
'a+,' and I have experienced it first-hand and loved every minute
(and every sip) of it! a+ is formerly the Sam Bar in the Sam
Houston Hotel, which is now the Alden Hotel. a+ serves up an
amazing specialty cocktail menu, as well as boasting an enormous
fully-stocked bar with a huge selection of rum, vodka, tequila,
gin, scotch, you name it, but the icing on the cake is that a+
also serves great food until closing time. Do yourselves a favor
and check out DJ Sun (best DJ of 2005, according to Houston Press.
The Press KNOWS what's up) every Thursday, and Gracie Chavez
(a FEMALE DJ, you KNOW she's GOT to be SMOKIN') every Saturday
from 9PM-1AM. If you run into me, Kim Coyne in the elite social
circles of Houston, and also well-known the not-so-elite social
circles around town, ask me for a complimentary cocktail card
(I always have the hook-up,) and then slide in to a+ and get
your drink on. Tell my girly girl, Emily, who told you about
a+ and tell her how freakin' great of a job she does, both managing
a+ and being an awesome friend to me.
