Be at Slainte/the Ruby Room (509 Main) for the Houston launch
party for AllOver Media this Thursday, the 27th. We'll start
the event with a Champagne Reception from 7-9 in the Ruby Room
and the party will last until 2AM with DJ Thumpa in the mix.
Come see the first bar to have these cool digital advertising
screens. The crew of AllOver Media will be on-hand at the event
to answer inquiries about opportunities to advertise or have
these screens in your establishment too. Hell, even if you aren't
interested in the screens, (trust me, you WILL be once you see
how cool they are,) it's STILL going to be a great party you
won't want to miss! E-flyers have gone out to my readers. Bring
friends! To see the invite, it's posted on my page at www.myspace.com/houstonqueenofclubs.
Special thanks to the QOC webmaster, Khail Mills of www.Hypermail.cc for the flyer design.
Take a few
minutes to go to www.g3live.com to see the videos of the Martini
Mix-offs #3 and #4. The next contest is on June
1st at Milan (809 Congress,) then in August at St. Pete's Dancing
Marlin and in October at LoneStar. The finals will be November
3rd and all contestants who placed first and second will compete
for THE martini of 2006 and the winner wins a thousand bucks!
Bartenders, if you want to compete, there is no entry fee.
Each contestant wins a prize bag at the event and the top three
martinis win bigger prizes and cash. Next year, the Mix-off
will be EVERY month at a different bar. The Mix-off has gained
a lot of popularity and it is one of my favorite events. If
you are interested in hosting a Mix-off at your venue, email
me at houston_queen_of_clubs@yahoo.com. In May, I will have
a contest to choose a special guest judge for the event at
Milan. Stay tuned for how to enter. Judges get to taste ALL
of the martini creations.

event is themed, "UNITED... in Business & Culture" and
will be held at the Westin Hotel Galleria. It's going to be
the best, so be sure not to miss it. They are honoring the
Entrepreneurs of the Year, with special musical guests, the
now famous Ahn Trio (www.ahntrio.com.) The Ahn Trio recently
played to a sell out crowd at the Wortham Center a few months
back, and I was in the audience. The Gala will kick off on
the 28th, while the Chamber's Business Symposium will be the
next morning from 8:30AM-1:30PM, with special guest speakers,
our honorable Mayor, Bill White, and Channel 13's, Miya Shay

ranging from $1000-25,000. Please show your support for the
Asian Chamber of Commerce today by buying a few seats or a

"110 In The Shade" will be at the Hobby Center for
the Performing Arts May 9th-21st. Based on the famous play "The
Rainmaker" by N. Richard Nash that was later turned into
a film starring Burt Lancaster and Katherine Hepburn, "110
In The Shade" features passionate songs by Texas natives
Harvey Schmidt and Tom Jones. This deeply moving musical is a
tale of faith and the miracles of life and love. In the middle
of a heat wave in 1930's Texas, when everyone is longing for
rain, or a breeze, Lizzie Curry is on the verge of becoming a
hopeless old maid. Her
wit, intelligence and skills as a homemaker can't make up for
the
fact that she can't find true love. Even
the town sheriff,
for whom she harbors a secret yearning, won't take a chance.
However, when a charismatic rainmaker named Starbuck enters the
town and her family's life, Lizzie's world is turned upside down.
Tickets for "110 In The Shade" range from $27-$87 and
are available to the public by phone at 713-558-TUTS or online
at www.tuts.com. Group discounts are available for 15 or more
people and may be purchased by calling 713-558-8888.

On Saturday,
May 27th, Bayou City Outdoors presents "the
Houston is Just Too Cool Bike Ride, Part 2." Houston is
a city of really nice and really unique people. Plus, our lack
of zoning allows lots of people to express themselves. From beer
can houses to flower power, gigantic president heads to billionaire
graves, art cars to movie studios, Houston really does have it
all, and a little more. This bike ride is part two of a three
part series, because Houston just wasn't able to keep all this
coolness to one little part of town. Riders will meet at Onion
Creek 3106 White Oak Drive. Please park on the surrounding streets
and be sure to check for parking/no parking signs. The group
will meet on the bike friendly, outside patio at 8:00AM for coffee
and will leave at 8:30AM, arriving back by 11AM. Look for the
yellow Bayou City Outdoors table sign. Bring sunscreen & water.
Free for everyone. Join BCO today and get your second month FREE.
