This Saturday is the Gemini Birthday Bash. As if my birthday adventure wasn't enough, we need to throw another party. This time I am lucky enough to not have done very much work in the planning (special thanks to Frosty, Kini and Charles!) I'm just hosting, spreading the word and I picked out Milan as the final destination on our birthday tour-gasm. To plagiarize a little from the evite floating around, Geminis are defined as freakin' indecisive, split personality, schizophrenic, bipolar, intellectual, versatile, party-conscientious and jugglers of multiple tasks at all times. That's ME to a tee! Enter the Birthday Bitches, Charles "Salamander" Solomon- party-producing fun boy extraordinaire, Sophia Q- nice and charming on the outside, devious and naughty on the inside, Roberto Diaz- optrician by day, luscious Latin dancing fool by night, Fash Barvarz- the Social Scenester and a ladies man without a cause and yours truly, Kim Coyne- the original Queen of ALL Clubs. Come join us this Saturday night. Meet us at El Centro restaurant on 416 Main by 8PM for delicious delectables. Then we'll head on over to the infamous Saturday Session at The Whiskey on 220 Main to divulge in tasty libations and the beats of DJ Brandon Silva and the grand finale will be the pinnacle at the new and sexy Milan Lounge down the block at 809 Congress. The ebb and flow of DJ Jessica Lozano will put you in the KNOW! The theme is purple, so wear it well. To view the invitation, click this link or if you're my friend on myspace, you've seen it SEVERAL times as a bulletin this week. Hey, I'm a promoter, I promote. I bulletin A LOT. What can I say?

The Martini Mix-off at Milan was a smashing success, and I don't mean that literally, no glasses were broken during the event. Kyle Simpson of Milan took first place honors with his Milan Mocha Martini, St. Pete's Dancing Marlin took second place with a concoction of Cranberry Juice and Bailey's Irish Cream (trust me, it's better than it sounds) and third place went to Joey Massey of the Buddha Lounge and Hush for his Firewater martini. The night also played host to an Artist Reception featuring the works of three Houston artists, Feiff www.myspace.com/feiff, Crystal Wright www.myspace.com/letetcia and Leigh Hajovsky www.myspace.com/leighkhajovsky13. Their works are on display and are for sale at Milan, so swing by for a drink and an eyeful of art while you are there. Barstool and Houston Press were on hand at the event, so look for photos and details in their future issues. As always, g3live.com was there and filmed the competition which you can watch on the g3live.com website. www.Houstonqueenofclubs.com and Milan were the cash prize sponsors and a big thank you to our prize sponsors for the event which include Yellow Cab, St. Pete's Dancing Marlin, Body Worlds 3 and R&R Partnership Inc.

Please join us for the next Martini Mix-off competition at St. Pete's Dancing Marlin (300 Main) It will be limited to 12 contestants and I have 7 signed up so far. The last mix-off before the finals will be in October and the top two winners from all seven competitions will duke it out for $1,000 in November at the Whiskey. To enter the mix-off, contact me at

or 713-227-1511. The Mix-off will take place every single month next year and the first place winners will compete in the 2007 Finals. If your venue is interested in hosting a mix-off, just let me know.

I went to see DJ AM this week at Hue (202 Tuam) I can sum up the evening in one hyphenated word: A-LIST! Where do I begin? For starts, it's so rare I get to venture out of my realm of the places I work, but to listen to a little, skinny Jewish boy named DJ AM, I'll make the effort. That I did, indeed. I scored free passes from my homey, King of the Houston Press Street Team, Frank (White is his alias or...) Walton and I went to Hue (202 Tuam) for the first time in my life. I think I'd describe the club's dicor as "elegant gothic". Just about everything in there is black, right down to the toilet seats. I wasn't sure what to expect because the reviews on citysearch were very mixed, some good, some REALLY bad, but I always like to see places for myself before I decide. I do know Hue used to have a door-nazi who was rude and I received three different emails about him as well as hearing stories about the valet giving cars to the wrong owners at the end of the night, but the mean doorman is no longer working there and I made sure we self-parked (cost was $8 if you care.) I would definitely go back. The drinks are a little higher than what I'm used to (thank you to Cesar, Mike and Yogi for treating me to a drink!) You know how I love DJ's and anytime I see a surplus of them in one room, I get giddy. I saw Little Martin, Ryan E., Red, Alex Clavijo and of course AM himself who strolled in at about 1:00AM to get things started. I also ran into many of my myspace friends there and met Dizzle in person. Mr. Charisma! Don't know Dizzle? You better get up to speed and check out his page (www.myspace.com/jamescho) or you must be new in town. He is adorable and loved by all. A special shout out goes to Joy for being so sweet and making me feel loved. Great seeing you, you Goddess! Pretty inside and outside, that girl. Hey Joy, did you meet AM? Little Miss Richie is history, you know. I think he's taking applications for a replacement.

Before Hue, Nikki, Ana and Cesar and I decided to meet at the Maple Leaf (514 Elgin) I figured it'd be a nice, quiet place to meet and talk before the volume at DJ AM. So wrong! Noone told me it was the Stanley Cup. It's a Canadian Bar, for crying out loud. We enjoyed it, though and the ratio was like 7 guys for every girl in the place. Nice odds.

NEWS IN THE BIZ: Jen, formerly at Crome is now working at Hue. www.Citysearch.com named Red Lion (2316 S. Shepherd) as one of the top ten places to watch the World Cup.
