The restaurant
I work for, St. Pete's Dancing Marlin is nominated for several
categories in citysearch.com's
2006 best of Houston
restaurants contest. Voting will last until July 22nd, so you
have just a couple of weeks left to obey me by voting for SPDM
every single day between now and then (pretty, PRETTY please!)
Vote for St. Pete's in Cheap Eats, Comfort Foods, People-Watching,
Lunch Spot, Business Dining, Steak, French Fries, Hamburger,
Seafood and Raw Oysters categories. Vote daily in each category
if you would. In the meantime, come in and "order-up some
vittles" (as Granny Clampitt would say) and see how delicious
St. Pete's has been for the past six years. Whoever emails me
to say they have voted for St. Pete's will receive a free happy
hour party and my undying appreciation for your vote. See more
of St. Pete's at both www.myspace.com/spdm and www.dancingmarlin.com.
Sean Carnahan
and I have teamed up to do some large-scale events together
at the Meridian. The first of many will be this month,
so join 77002.com and www.houstonqueenofclubs.com for
FOUR PLAY on July 15th at the Meridian (1503 Chartres.) The colossal
event
features two guest DJs and live music by Oh! Beast and Awesome
Cool Dudes. For presale tickets, visit 77002.com to purchase.
This is an 18 and up show! 2 bands + 2 DJs = 4 PLAY! What's that
you say? Want to hear about more 77002.com events? Well, I will
tell you about a few, but I highly recommend you subscribe to
77002.com's newsletter so you never miss an event. King Yellowman
is on July 14th and is a strictly enforced 18 and up show. The
doors open at 9PM for this show at the Meridian. Special sponsors
and promotional support for this show are www.houstonbeats.com,
www.bluntedinfo.com, www.texasdnb.com, www.77002.com, www.myspace.com/txdnbrecords and

is in July, R&R Partnership would like
to make sure your celebration is a memorable one and that you
ride in style and safety for your birthday party. Call Carla
DiBartola at 713-977-0088 to book your limo, party bus, sedan

Has anyone seen the July copy of Barstool yet? Oh, might I add
R&R won best limo company of 2005 on www.citysearch.com.
By now, most
people have seen the "Evolution of Dance" video
which was taped at one of Judson Laipply's speaking engagements.
It has been viewed more than 27 million times on the video web
site YouTube, see it at www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMH0bHeiRNg.
It's a great way to spend six minutes and it now holds the record
as that site's most-viewed video ever. Being the MySpace addict
I am, I even found Judson on MySpace at www.myspace.com/lifeischange and there is talk he is putting together an Evolution of Dance
part two. While you are browsing around on You Tube, check out
this Simpsons Show intro scene using real actors instead of cartoons.
Someone did a great job on this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=49IDp76kjPw.
LOCAL
BAND OF THE WEEK: Savoy Special recently opened for Zwee at St.
Pete's Dancing Marlin and since I'm
learning more about
live music I decided to add a weekly feature about one of the
bands I've met along the way. Besides, the boys from Savoy were
cool as shit and they even gave me a Savoy Special "New
Age Hustle" CD to prove it. Give them a listen and check
out their calendar listings of where they will be playing and
go see a few of their shows. Hey, speaking of local bands, can
someone out there tell me when the Houston Press 2006 Music Showcase
will be? That's always a fantastic event.
I need to
sharpen my pimpin' skills and mention a MySace page that needs
more pretty girls added to his friend
list, find screen
name Outlaw in my top 24 and add him. He is new to MySpace and
doesn't "get the hype" and gets bored with it all.
MySpace boring? Never! Add some excitement to his virtual experience
and add him as a friend. I've known him for about five years
and can vouch for him that he is a cool guy.
Eat, drink and be merry at Tranquility, which is a Mediterranean
Dinner Club serves dinner every evening from 6:00PM-10:30PM is
located at 6101 Westheimer. Should you wish to make reservations
or host an event there, contact Rebecca at 713-975-0705. I've
never been to Tranquility but was thrilled when Rebecca contacted
me to tell me about her new job there, so I did a little research
on a great site called b4-u-eat.com. Here's the profile for Tranquility
and there are two positive reviews written about the place as
well, www.b4-u-eat.com/profile.asp?r=3978. You'll find Pamela
St. Cyr, formerly of Mia Bella on Lexington at Tranquility too.
