Okay, so in my last issue when I said I'd get the Queen of Clubs newsletter out on the 5th and the 20th, perhaps I should have added "ish" after those dates, meaning I'd get it out in the vicinity of the 5th and 20th each month. Notice the date on this issue, ummmmm, it's is not exactly the 20th. In the spirit of being a spontaneous Gemini, I will keep you on your toes by saying it will come out "twice a month." Do me a favor, I often wonder if people actually read this newsletter, so once you complete this edition, hit reply and send. No need for a note, unless you have something you want me to write about, of course. Just reply so I can see if there really are readers out there and not just recipients. Thank you.

COTTON EXCHANGE LOWDOWN: I have been uber-busy creating events like this week's last Martini Mix-off before the 2006 finals on November 1st, where one skilled martini master will walk away with a GRAND! Anyway, this Wednesday, the 27th is competition #7 at the Cotton Exchange (202 Travis.) DJ Nesto will be on the decks to set the vibe so please don't miss this exciting contest. Come cheer your favorite bartender on to victory.

This Friday is DJ Kaskade, imported from San Francisco. To soak up some information, cut and paste this link into the URL line (AFTER you finish reading this entire edition of QOC, don't just click over right this minute.) I have much more to tell you! Here it is:

James Reed and a crew of guest DJs including Josh Dupont, Lushus Brown, Chris Costello, Brandon Silva, Prog Queen and Amanda Robinson have caused quite a stir in North Downtown over the past three weeks at Cot Ex (my nick-name for Cotton Exchange.) It looks like Houston officially has a new Friday night stomping ground for the best in house music. The crowds have grown in numbers each week and I'm sure Prohibition will prove to be no different. Join us for Prohibition (lovingly referred to as "Pro Ho") on October 6th, visit my myspace page to see all the event flyers for all of my venues. Add me as a friend while you are there, myspace.com/houstonqueenofclubs.

Bombsquad Productions has invaded the Cotton Exchange every Monday for Monday Night Football. I'm usually up there Monday, Wednesday and Friday, so please join me. If you are interested in booking a happy hour event, contact me at 832-885-7274. Single? There are a few 8minutedating.com events coming on October 13th and 20th. We offer a delicious made-to-order pasta buffet on Fridays. Go ahead and save the date for the next Young Active Professionals Happy Hour at Cotton Exchange on October 20th. Please RSVP at:

Interested in competing? Give me a ring-a-ling on my cool Cricket phone! The number has already been mentioned in here so let's see if you were paying attention.

R&R SCOOP: It's time for the Texas Renaissance Festival and it gets underway on September 30th commencing each weekend through November 19th. Visit http://www.texrenfest.com for more information. Have you heard? Gary T. Murphy, founder of Houston Court Services, MACH 5 Couriers and 6: Lounge has launched his new company, Murphy Consultancy Group to a private selection of new clients. Because of confidentiality, he is not able to name all his new clients, but a few that have recently signed on with him are Verdix, a litigation support firm, 6 Foot Studios, a web design, marketing & advertising company, and Joe Martin's, El Centro Restaurant, and his coveted, M Bar nightclub. Gary also was recently sought after to help concept, design and build a night club and restaurant in Shanghai, China. After Gary sold one of downtown's hottest lounges, 6° Lounge, in May of this year, he traveled to China and Korea to rest up for a month before coming back to the U.S. to open his new practice. I asked Gary how he decided to open his new company, he said, "Well, as my friend Margie told me, 'I think you just accidentally opened a company!' Referring to the fact that I was not sure what I was going to do after selling my bar... but, after I had 3 of my new clients knocking on my door to help them increase their sales, I decided why not? Most business owners need help properly marketing their companies and increasing business, and many need help improving their customer service and the branding of their companies, this is where I come in. I live and breathe marketing and sales, and love helping people, so I thought this would just be a great fit." Gary has nearly 16 years of experience in the marketing, sales, customer service and the bar and nightclub business. If you want to increase your business, improve your customer service or need someone to help you concept, design and bring your new bar or nightclub to fruition, contact Gary Murphy at 832-277-7060.

Happy birthday to my web host, John Valenzano of HardLight Media. Without him I wouldn't have my web site so he is AWESOME! Happy birthday John and I'll be at your party to celebrate! I appreciate you John V.!

Whew, this turned out to be as long-winded as I am! Last topic, it's Citysearch Best of Houston Nightlife time again and since you guys helped me so much last year, 6° Lounge won top honors in 8 categories due to y'alls rocking the vote. This year 6° is gone, but I am backing the new Cotton Exchange Lounge (http://www.cottonexchangelounge.com). Cotton Exchange is a lot like 6° Lounge was. It's chill, cool and stylish, with a great scene and great people. Would you do me a HUGE favor and take a sec and vote for Cotton Exchange in the competition? Voting ends on September 27th so hurry. We are nominated for Best Singles Scene, Best 30+Singles Scene, Best After-work Bar, Best Happy Hour and Best See and Be Seen. Remember, vote, vote, vote!
