Let's raise
our glasses to toast the fact I am well! I have been so sick
this week that I even had to stay home from work for two days
to recuperate so that I could be healthy enough to write the
Queen's official guide to St. Patrick's Day Debauchery. Extra
credit points to me for squeezing out an additional issue this
month, certainly much to the delight of all you little leprechauns.
Hopefully, this guide will be your lucky charm to making this
year's St. Patrick's Day your best one yet. Don't forget to take
a vacation day on Tuesday so you won't have to rack your brain
thinking of an excuse to call in to work after your drink-a-thon
on Monday. Enjoy a few green beers for me because I am on medication
for an entire week and doctor's orders were no alcohol until
my script runs out. A special shout-out goes to my bosses Juan,
Ruben and Bob for calling to check on me, to my co-workers who
covered my shifts and to my 'nurse' who came over while I was
illin', Sarah Diab, a.k.a Miss Amazing, who by the way is now
SINGLE!
A
REASON TO HOP A PLANE TO VEGAS: As I have mentioned before,
Gary T. Murphy, a Houston powerhouse in the corporate and nightclub
world in Houston for the past 20 years moved to Las Vegas only
a year ago. Gary was the owner of Six Degrees Lounge, which won
six 31 spots on citysearch.com's Best of Houston awards in 2006.
GTM wasted little time in accessing the Vegas business climate,
and began making plans to open a new business out there and his
vision has come to light. The launch party for his new company,
Arisa Global, will be on April 8th at one of Vegas' hottest ultra
lounges, Little Macua (www.LittleMacau.com.) If you know Gary,
or are interested in his new China Sourcing and Consulting business,
try to make plans now to attend his kick-off event in Vegas.
If his launch party for Arisa is like anything he pulled off
in Houston, I know this event is going to be killer. For more
info, contact Gary personally at 702-426- 6400 or gary@arisaglobal.com or www.myspace.com/garyat6. Make a vacation out of it and soak
up some sin city while you are there. I hear Vegas is even more
fun than a mistress!
Ready to
get your 'brew ha ha' on' Beaver's will host 'St. Patio Day'
kicking off at 4:00PM on Monday the 17th. They are usually
closed on Mondays but on St. Patty's Day 2008, the Beav will
feature $3 Texas beers on tap and a special food menu that
will debut their 'Beaver Pie.' Did you know Beaver's is now
open for Sunday Brunch too? Beaver's is at 2310 Decatur and
for directions, just click to their site, www.beavershouston.com.
The earliest bar to open on St. Pat's Day will be Lucky's Pub
(801 St. Emanuel) which will insanely open for all hard-core
drunks and those still partying from the night before, at the
ripe hour of 6:00AM. Are you kidding me?! You heard right. Six
o'clock in the morning, people! 94.5 FM The Buzz will be doing
a live broadcast from Lucky's Pub on Monday morning. If I were
to get up early on the 17th, and trust me, I am NOT planning
on getting up early, however let's just say I was, my Irish rump
would be parked in a chair at Brian O'Neill's (5555 Morningside.)
Brian O'Neill's opens at 8:00AM and has been a Houston tradition
for the past 6 years. There will be authentic Irish entertainment
like dancers and bagpipers to watch while you carbo-load for
a day of drinking. From Brian O'Neill's, you can dance an Irish
gig over to Bronx Bar, right next door to Brian O'Neill's, which
opens at 10AM and has no cover until 7PM (another incentive to
get an early start.)
Bronx will have $2 green beer flowing all
day long and $5 Red Bull Irish Viagra, which I assume is a cocktail
rather than a prescription, but alcoholic libations are an aphrodisiac,
so maybe it's a little of both.
Let's dish about a few of my suggestions on the hot spots where
your presence is advisable. The mack-daddy of midtown is still
Pub Fiction (2303 Smith) and a holiday doesn't go by that PF
doesn't do in the grandest of style. I dropped by their mega-cool
website, www.pubfiction.com but didn't see any 411 about St.
Pat's, but I trust they will throw one hell of a party.
Griff's (3416 Roseland) does St. Patrick's WEEK rather than
just a day. Griff's hosted the annual St. Patrick's Day Queen
contest last night, the Houston Irish Open Golf Tourney on the
14th and on the 15th the Irish Stew Contest will be held then
they will wrap it all in a pretty green bow by popping their
doors wide open at 9AM on the 17th.
The Queen's ultimate party pick for St. Pat's is at the Tipsy
Clover (2416 Brazos, Suite B, behind El Patio and the Red Door.)
The event will span three days with $2 green beer and shot specials.
Doors swing open at 3PM on Saturday the 15th and will close each
day at 2AM with things wrapping up on Monday the 17th at closing
time. Take your vitamins and get into your training for the 'triathlon'
at Tipsy Clover.
Two events not to miss are the Alchemia party on Saturday at
the Engine Room and the Survivor after hours party on the 22nd.
I mentioned both in last week's QOC newsletter and the flyers
are posted on my myspace page at www.myspace.com/houstonqueenofclubs.
Add me if we aren't already friends on myspace. I love meeting
new people. A couple other fun-filled parties I want you to know
about are the Texas Fetish Ball on March 22nd and Tommy Lee (yes,
THE Tommy Lee) and DJ Aero on March 21st, both events are at
the mega event complex, the Meridian (1503 Chartres.) To purchase
tickets for Tommy Lee and DJ Aero and a night of dirty electro
house music, visit www.upCloseLive.us. Get your tix for the Fetish
Ball at Dare Ware (6363 Westheimer, 713-953-9393.) The Texas
Fetish Ball will feature world-famous Rubber Doll, a fetish model
and performer, the progressive band FAQ and performances by Club
FEM and E.R.O.S. There will be a corral with Pony Girls, a vendor's
market and a full dungeon. For more information, spank your mouse
on over to www.texasfetishball.com or www.myspace.com/texasfetishball and get your latex freak on.
March 14th
rings in a new National Holiday, one dedicated to the gents.
A holiday that brings you to your knees, so to speak, and I
promise I am not making this up. All hail to Steak and BJ Day.
Don't believe me? Research it yourself. Here's the resources
I recommend, and I guess it's a fine time to mention I will be
working as a server the night of the 14th at Cyclone Anaya's
and we have two new menu items that are, you guessed it, steak
entrees, so I have suggested half of what you need to spoil your
man. Get ideas for the rest at these sites: www.steakandbjday.com and www.steakandablowjobday.com.
Oh, and for all you guys out there?. You're welcome!
