Eleven days until my birthday, oh, wait a minute, let me focus on the newsletter! I’m not just the Queen of Clubs, but it seems, frequently I am also the Queen of Pubs. I will let you know that my BAND OF THE MONTH feature will take a backseat to the new QUEEN OF PUBS paragraph for a few months and I rave about some of my favorites in town. My most favorite of all “Houston Pubbery” is the Red Lion (2316 S. Shepherd) Red Lion Pub is almost as dear to me as my hot boyfriend.

First, might I inform you, just in case you are clueless to the fact Red Lion has MANNNNNY awards for their food and beverage endeavors, let me enlighten you on the fact it is also a heck of a great place to get your eat on! Red Lion features a daily lunch menu with dishes that range in price from $3 to $9. A few of their “off the menu highlights” are the charming and effervescent employees, Dawn Robertson and Julie Brewer, so say hello to my girls while you are there. If you are service industry employees, you get happy hour drink prices when you are in, so let them know where you work if you are in the hospitality biz. For all you carnivores out there, Thursday nights offer up a fat filet mignon for just $18 and you can wash it down with $5 champagne by the glass. Other juicy tidbits are their all day Friday Happy Hour, on Saturdays the $5 pints are flowing and select wines by the glass are $5 on Sundays. Want to know more? Give a jolly ol’ click to their website, www.redlionhouston.com. I adore the video of owner, Craig Mallinson on www.citysearch.com, and I adore Craig, himself. He has created a fabulous pub. Take a peek at the video here: http://houston.citysearch.com/profile/39573477.

My birthday party will be on June 8th at the new Bronx Bar (2670 Sage) in the Galleria Area. It gets underway at 8PM on Sunday the 8th and all of my readers will get an invite via email. Be on the lookout for your invitation in your email box. The party will have a special guest performance at 9PM by one of my favorite Houston bands, Bone Train, and then we’ll enjoy DJ Synplicity for the rest of the evening, so be ready to dance! The party starts at 8PM and from 8PM until 11PM, Bronx Bar will offer $1 drafts and $4 pitchers. There is no cover and it would mean so much to me to A) have a night off from work B) be with all the people I adore C) hear my boyfriend’s BAD-ASS band perform and finally, D) celebrate my birthday, of course! Please come celebrate with me, hear Bone Train rock the house from 9PM-10PM and then dance your asses off to the beats of DJ Synplicity. Some of you have already inquired as to what I want for a gift and I simply want YOUR PRESENCE! Should you insist on a gift, it would mean a tremendous amount to me and be an appreciated gift from the heart if you’d donate to the Houston SPCA. One of my dogs, Caden Chase Coyne, was a rescue adoptee from the SPCA. She was brutally abused and then THROWN from a truck on I-45. She bounced across the freeway and survived but had to have her right rear leg amputated. She is a blessing and I love her so much and I feel fortunate to have adopted her. She will never be abused again because she is my dog now and is part of the family. There are more animals at the SPCA like her and they deserve a better life, so please donate to the Houston SPCA. Please be at my party too, will ya?!

On the topic of loveable companions, something different for you are your four legged furry friends (or THREE legs in Caden’s case) to do is participate in the upcoming Houston Humane Society and Whole Foods First Annual “Sham-pooch” Party on Saturday, May 17th from noon until 4PM. Volunteers with the Houston Humane Society will be bathing dogs. There will be free organic doggy baths, organic doggy bags, hot dogs, live music and much more with all donations going to the Houston Humane Society. This event is at Whole Foods Market (2955 Kirby Drive.) Please call 713-341-3311 for details or click to www.houstonhumane.org/events.aspx.

Single ladies might want to save the date of May 19th, because Nancy Nichols will be giving a mini- seminar called "Right Man? Wrong Man? Dream Man? Only Time Will Tell." This seminar is from 6:00-8:00PM at Canyon Café (5000 Westheimer.) This is a Houston Single Source Event and is free for all HSS members. Space is limited, so be sure to RSVP. You may RSVP at rsvp@HoustonSingleSource.com or go to their website at www.HoustonSingleSource.com. Non-Members always welcome for $10. Five years ago, Nancy Nichols began writing a funny "chick" book inspired by the trials, errors and "a-ha" moments of her dating and relationship life. She discovered a novel approach to dating that is now changing the way women view men and themselves in relation to the dating process. Witty, insightful and uplifting, her book is the quintessential read for women: married, divorced, widowed or single who struggle within the wrong relationship, do not have relationship and want one, or who are surviving heartbreak. Her unique message will inspire you to attract a quality man, avoid involvement with the wrong man, and ultimately gain the love, respect and devotion of your dream man. Special thanks to HSS, who is a sponsor of the Queen of Clubs newsletter.
