all you little, luscious leprechauns in nightlife land. I hope
this newsletter finds you gearing up in your green duds and
getting ready for St. Patrick’s
Day 2009. It’s only five days away, on Tuesday, March 17th.
On St. Patrick's Day why would you go anywhere else but BRONX
BAR VILLAGE? All of your favorite people will be there. The event
will feature $2 green beer all day, bands, food, entertainment,
and lots of fun and the drinks start flowing at 12:00 in the
afternoon, so take the whole day off to celebrate. This year
the Bronx Bar is holding a “Miss St. Patty” contest.
There will be two rounds of competition, casual and bikini. The
contest starts at 11PM. Ladies can sign up to be a contestant
by contacting Rae Millican at 281-690-2192.
The 47th
annual Houston St. Patrick’s Day Parade is on Saturday March 14th and
the two-hour parade has been one of the largest in the U.S. This
year’s parade will include over 100 entries to delight
the Irish and Irish-at-heart and the parade will be honoring
all 50 Past Parade Marshals. Movie personalities, Dennie O'Keefe
and Dennis Day were among the first to serve as Grand Marshal.
Astronauts Robert Crippen and Brian Duffey represented NASA,
as well as George Abbey, Director of NASA and Gerald Griffin,
former NASA director. Other Grand Marshals included football
greats, Dan Pastorini, Jim Kelley, and Coach Kevin Gilbride,
business leaders, Jim McIngvale and Glen McCarthy, Jr., local
politicians, Johnnie Goyen and Mayor Jim McConn, Dr. Denton Cooley,
Dr. Joseph McFadden, former president of St. Thomas University.
The Parade route will begin at Texas and Crawford, will go down
Caroline and Dallas and end at San Jacinto and Texas Avenue.
Dean and Rog from the morning show on 107.5 FM will be broadcasting
all morning from the parade and at the awards ceremony at Discovery
Green Park. Be a part of the fun this Saturday, beginning at

There will be an after-party on Saturday from 1:00 until 3:00PM
at Discovery Green Park that will include live entertainment.
Both the parade and the post-parade party are FREE.
NEWS
IN THE BIZ: Tonight is the Third Anniversary Party for Impresario Entertainment
and it’s being thrown at Pravada. Doors swing wide open
for a fun-filled night at 10PM with beats provided by DJ X-Ray.
April 1st is the tentative date that Rare Bar is scheduled to
open. Rare Bar will be located at 700 Durham, near Washington

Cinco de
Mayo is approaching. Manager Anabello Soto has transferred
from the Woodway location of Cyclone Anaya’s to the location
I work for in midtown. Anabella is also the Point Beverage Manager
for all of the Cyclone Anaya’s locations and she and our
fearless leader, Ruben Ramirez (Director of Operation for all
of our restaurants) were the masterminds behind last year’s
Cincofest at Midtown Park. The festival will take place again
this year, On May 1st and 2nd so save the dates and plan to attend.
If you want to submit a demo of your band for consideration to
perform at the festival, you can get the information to me at

I will get it to Anabella. The only way to contact Anabella directly
is to drop a demo CD and fact sheet by Cyclone Anaya’s
at 309 Gray and it must be contained in a manila envelope for
safe-keeping. If you are a band I have booked at other bars or
restaurants I worked for in the nightclubs business, of course
I will give her a recommendation for you. Should you have any

Wednesdays
are now home to Big Ass Beer Night at Saint Danes Bar and Grille
(old Late Night Pie spot at 502 Elgin @ Brazos.) St. Danes
has live bands every Wednesday beginning at 9PM. Buy the glass
for $10 and refill it as often as you want for ONLY $2 and
bring it back each and every Wednesday to eat, drink and repeat.
Besides bands, beer and grub, St. Danes also has Golden Tee,
Buck Hunter, High Def Televisions all over the place, a front
room, a back room and a bad ass patio. Don't forget the other
specials at St. Danes. On Mondays it’s $10 Ribeye
Night, Taco Tuesdays offer $1.00 Tacos and Thursdays are 25-cent
wings.
NEWS FROM PRAVADA: Pravada
(2815 S. Shepherd) invites you to "The
RED Party - Red Hotte Ladies Night" on Friday, March 13th
commencing at 10:00PM featuring none other than DJ Red. Ladies
will receive complimentary valet parking, $2 Martinis, $2 Champagne
and $2 Mimosas before midnight this Friday night and everyone
is encouraged to wear red, of course. Pravada is also presenting
New York’s hottest DJ, “Supa DJ” Peter Parker
this Saturday, March 14th beginning at 10PM and resident DJ Mike
C. will also be on hand to provide dance beats. To book your
reservation, call 713-533-1200. This event is 21 and up and be
sure to dress to impress because Pravada is ultra-chic. Sunday
March 15th welcomes the return of “Sundae Fundae” at
5PM with DJs PTRCK and Mike C. This party will also feature complimentary
sushi from Zake. Yum! Then on Wednesday, March 18th Joe Applewhite,
Geno, Todd and Lui will present DJ Mike Palmieri straight out
of Las Vegas’s hot spots, Body English and Jet. Again,
doors will open at 10PM, but for those who arrive early, you’ll
get to sip on $3 u-call-its until 11PM.
March 20th
rings in a new National Holiday, one dedicated to the gents.
A holiday that brings you to your knees, so to speak, and I
promise I am not making this up. All hail to Steak and BJ Day.
